While checking my mails on Gmail today, I noticed Google has developed a Java app that lets you check Gmail directly from it (and not from the web interface).

They don’t really have a name for it the official page says “Get Gmail on your mobile phone”. Some of its features are:

- Gmail.com alike interface.
- Easily view attachments (including PDF files)

To get it, point your cellphone to http://www.gmail.com/app/ and download the Java Application to your phone (113KB). Next, you’ll have to enter your user name and password for it to sign into your account and retrieve your mails.

Did you try it out?

I’m having issues using it w/ Alfa wap service (in Lebanon). What a pity..

Yes, it seems WAP users in Alfa (lebanon) are having problems connecting. Too bad.
